Why Harnessing Your Subconscious Mind is the Most Powerful Life Skill
Your Mind as an Autopilot: Who’s Really in Control?

Imagine this: You’re on a long-haul flight, sitting comfortably as the plane soars through the sky. You assume the pilot is actively steering the aircraft, but in reality, most of the journey is controlled by autopilot. The plane adjusts its course automatically, making small corrections along the way.

Now, what if I told you that your mind operates in the same way?

Your subconscious mind is the autopilot of your life, controlling 95% of your thoughts, decisions, and actions. But what happens if the autopilot is wrongly programmed, and the pilot doesn’t realize it in time? Imagine a critical navigation error—one that slowly but surely leads the plane off course. If the mistake isn’t detected and corrected, it could result in a crash landing—or in life, repeated failures, unfulfilled potential, and self-sabotage. So, to understand the subconscious one must first understand that we possess a second, hidden mind. This hidden mind functions day and night beyond the awareness of the conscious mind.

Your subconscious mind is a giant hard drive, storing every experience, emotion, and belief you’ve ever encountered. It drives 95% of our daily actions, emotions, and decisions.

This means that:

✔ Most of your thoughts and reactions happen automatically.
✔ Many of your beliefs and behaviours were shaped during early childhood.
✔ Without intervention, your subconscious will continue running old programs, even if they no longer serve you.

This is why so many people struggle to change, even when they deeply desire transformation. If your subconscious is filled with outdated beliefs like “I’m not good enough” or “Success is hard to achieve”, those programs will dictate your reality, no matter how much willpower you apply.

It is not difficult to establish a functioning relationship with your subconscious. It just takes a basic understanding of the dynamics of the subconscious, along with the will to establish a relationship with it.

This is why subconscious reprogramming through transformational coaching is crucial to achieving lasting behavioural change and personal transformation.

Where Do Subconscious Beliefs Come From?

Hopes, desires, wishes, goals, intentions — these all exist on a conscious level. We think of them with our conscious mind. Beliefs are different, they are deeper and more entrenched and they live on a subconscious level.

Most subconscious programming happens before the age of 7. During this time, our brains operate in a theta brain state—a highly suggestible state, similar to hypnosis.

This means we absorb everything from our environment—especially from parents, caregivers, and society—without questioning its validity.

For example, if a child frequently hears “Money is hard to come by”, their subconscious stores this as truth. Later in life, they may struggle financially, unaware that their subconscious beliefs are creating invisible roadblocks.

These ingrained patterns are often the reason people experience self-sabotage. If your subconscious is programmed with “I’m not worthy of love”, you might push away healthy relationships or attract emotionally unavailable partners without realizing why.

This is where intuitive life coaching, transformational coaching, and holistic therapy techniques come into play.

If you take one thing away from this, let it be this:

Your subconscious mind is either working for you or against you—depending on what programs you’ve installed.

By understanding and actively reprogramming your subconscious, which is done in theta brain state (remember, just like you were a child) you gain the ability to reshape your reality. You aren’t doomed by old patterns from your early childhood—you can update the software of your mind to align with your dreams, goals, and highest potential.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” -

As Carl Jung famously said:
